The Nepal Evangelical Lutheran Church (NELC) was founded in 1943 in Morang, Nepal. While it has a rich history rooted in its mission work, NELC expanded its focus in 2012 when it was officially registered with the District Administrative Office of Morang and later with the Social Welfare Council (SWC). Since then, NELC has been actively engaged in humanitarian and development initiatives across Nepal, collaborating with stakeholders from local to national levels. Our work primarily centers on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and emergency response, with significant efforts also dedicated to improving livelihoods and education.
NELC operates through two key approaches: Church Mission Work and Diaconal (Humanitarian & Development) Work. This platform is dedicated to showcasing the humanitarian and development activities NELC implements in partnership with both national and international funding agencies. Our Diaconal efforts focus on supporting the poor, the oppressed, and vulnerable communities affected by various hazards and disasters.
While NELC is equipped to work throughout Nepal based on identified needs and available resources, each project is carefully designed and implemented in specific geographical areas to achieve defined outcomes. Through our projects, we aim to make a sustainable impact by uplifting communities and people towards resilience.
